Carton void fill: RollPad® or Orbiform®?

For carton void fill, RollPad® and Orbiform® are both paper-based and replace plastic fillers; the difference is in how they are applied. RollPad® is pulled from a roll and crumpled into shape, while Orbiform® comes as pre-cut spiral sheets that gain volume when opened out. Product weight and the unboxing experience decide the choice.

Why does void fill matter?

A product smaller than its box knocks against the box walls in transit. Most damage is caused by this movement. The void fill holds the product in place and spreads the impact before it reaches the box wall.

When to choose RollPad®

RollPad® protective void fill paper is the better fit when the product is heavy, when box sizes change from order to order or when a firm cushion is needed around the product. The paper is torn off in the quantity needed and crumpled to the shape of the void.

When to choose Orbiform®

Orbiform® void fill paper stands out when shipment volumes are high and the unboxing matters to your brand. The spiral form looks clean and tidy and is dust-free, avoiding the mess of shredded paper fill.

Using both together

Wrapping the fragile product in SafePak® first and then filling the remaining void with RollPad® or Orbiform® is the most common set-up for fully paper-based protection.
