ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001: what they mean for your packaging supplier
A certificate is not a plaque on the wall; it is proof of how the supplier works on every batch.

When choosing a packaging supplier, certificates show what a product sample cannot: whether the work is done the same way every time. ISO 9001 covers quality management, ISO 14001 environmental management, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, and ISO 10002 the handling of customer complaints.
ISO 9001: is every batch the same?
A quality management system requires processes, from raw material intake to shipping, to be defined, measured and improved. For you, this means that the SafePak® or corrugated cardboard in your second order arrives with the same dimensions and strength as the first, and any deviation is on record.
ISO 14001: environmental impact is not only about the product
Choosing paper packaging is the product side of environmental impact. ISO 14001 documents that waste, energy and resource use at the production site are managed too. For certification on the raw material side, see our FSC® guide.
ISO 45001: the people who make the product
An occupational health and safety management system systematises the protection of people working at the plant from risk. For corporate purchasing and export customers it is part of supply chain compliance.
ISO 10002: what happens when there is a problem?
No supplier can guarantee zero problems; what matters is how a problem is handled. ISO 10002 defines how a complaint is recorded, the response time and root cause analysis.
What to ask the supplier for
- The current version of the certificates and their validity dates,
- the name of the certification body that issued them,
- whether the scope covers the product group you are buying.
