Breakage protection for glass and ceramics, in paper
Fragile goods are damaged by impact and by movement inside the box. A honeycomb wrap, a cushion and the right box solve both together.

Glass and ceramics need two things at once: a wrap that absorbs impact and a cushion that keeps the product from moving inside the box. SafePak® spreads impact across the surface with its honeycomb structure; RollPad® holds the product in place as a bottom and top cushion; a double-wall corrugated cardboard box carries the external pressure.
Types of damage to fragile goods
- Point impact: when a parcel lands on a corner, the energy concentrates on a single point; the wrap layer spreads this energy.
- Collisions inside the box: when several pieces share a parcel they knock against each other; dividers between pieces are needed.
- Surface scratching: glazed and painted surfaces are scratched by rubbing.
- Stacking pressure: if the outer box has insufficient compression strength, the load transfers to the product.
Recommended paper pack
Each piece is wrapped separately in two layers of SafePak®; RollPad® cushions go at the bottom and top of the box; corrugated dividers are placed between pieces. A double-wall outer box is preferred. The pack is closed with Protack® kraft paper tape.
How many layers, and how much?
Starting values are two layers for cosmetic bottles and glasses, and two to three layers for porcelain and ceramics; the final set-up is confirmed with a drop test. For the method, see the guide to grammage and number of layers.
Switching from plastic bubble wrap
Giving up plastic bubble wrap does not mean losing protection; with the right layers and fill, paper gives the same protection and the pack is recycled in a single stream. Follow the step-by-step guide to plan the switch.
